Nobody Should be Arrested for Marijuana!
Major Legal Change November 9, 2016: Proposition 64, The Adult Use Marijuana Act, allows those over 21 years of age who are not participating in the state's medical cannabis program to legally grow up to six plants, including all of the harvest from those plants, and to possess personal use quantities of cannabis (up to one ounce of flower and/or up to eight grams of concentrates).
Possession of more than 28.5 grams is still a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months imprisonment and/or a fine up to $500.
Further details will follow soon. In the meantime, call our Salinas office at (831) 783-0222 for more information.

Medical Marijuana is Vital for Patients
Research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of many clinical conditions. These include pain relief, nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant and emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors.
Qualifying Conditions in California include:
- Anorexia
- Arthritis
- Cachexia
- Cancer
- Chronic Pain
- HIV or AIDS
- Glaucoma
- Migraine
- Persistent Muscle Spasms

- Any debilitating illness where the medical use of marijuana has been "deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician"

Defending Your Right to Grow Medical Marijuana
Although California does not require a permit for personal medical cultivation, Monterey County requires a permit for all medical cannabis activities. An annual permit is required for the personal cultivation of cannabis by any qualified patient or primary caregiver. And, personal cultivation can't exceed 100 square feet of canopy area on any one parcel.
We know that the law allows patients, caregivers and collectives to grow marijuana. What is currently unclear is how they are supposed to legally deliver it to the people who need their medicine and cannot travel to obtain it.
Attorney Julie Crawford has handled many of these cases over the past decade. She knows the trends in the law. She is well-equipped to protect your rights. Call for a free, confidential consultation now (831) 783-0222.
