Reckless Driving Case Dismissed
Our client was arrested for Reckless Driving after he made an illegal left turn in downtown Monterey right in front of a police officer. According to the officer's report, our client sped off after this illegal turn and was “fishtailing” all over the road on a crowded Monterey street. Our client insisted that the cop was embellishing and that he did not drive in an unsafe manner.
After reviewing the police report and discussing the matter with the Monterey County District Attorney and the judge, we were able to get a great offer to resolve his case. The DA agreed to dismiss his case completely if he did 8 hours of community service and attended an online educational course. Our client was more than happy to take this great deal.
If he had been convicted of reckless driving, this would have added two additional points on his driving record. Dismissing the case saved him hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on car insurance payments and court fines. It also saved him from having a permanent criminal misdemeanor record following him for the rest of his life.
As a result of this dismissal, our client can now petition the court to have his arrest record sealed so that it won't appear on a background check.
