DUI FATALITY IN MARINA

On January 29, 2024 a fatal DUI accident occurred on Reservation Road in Marina, California.   DUI fatality The driver is accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence. 

A person who drives while under the influence of alcohol and causes an accident leading to someone's death will face very serious charges, including:
Vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated (which can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony); and
gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.  This is a serious felony charge carrying a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
If the driver has a prior conviction for DUI, he will probably be charged with second degree murder, which carries a penalty of 15 years to life in state prison.

Every person accused of a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt and has the right to an attorney.
